Parking
There is a public pay-and-display car park directly opposite the court on The Gore. It fills early on hearing days, arrive by 9:15 am for a 10:00 am listing. Overflow options are around Basildon town centre, 8 minutes on foot.
Getting there
Basildon railway station is a 12 minute walk; direct trains from Fenchurch Street. Local buses stop at the town centre bus station, then a 10 minute walk down East Walk and Whitmore Way.
Security
All visitors pass through metal detectors. Allow extra time, queues build between 9:30 and 10:00. Phones must be silenced in court.
Facilities
Basildon is a combined court, so family, civil and crime lists share the building. Waiting areas can be busy; ask the usher for a quiet room if needed. A vending machine is on site but no cafe.
Courtroom etiquette
Smart dress, no hats, no chewing gum. Stand when the judge enters. Address a District Judge as 'Judge' and a Circuit Judge as 'Your Honour'. Photography and recording inside the building are not permitted.
